Sports have always been a big part of my family. From my dad to my brother and sisters down to me. Sports is a connection and similar interest we all share. Football is a big part of my life. I did not start playing till my junior year in high school but ever since then I have fallen in love with the sport. Football has blessed me with the opportunity to attend this school to get a great education as well as do what I love to do. Football came about one day when I was talking to some of my friends and they convinced me to try out one day and everything just seemed to fall in place after that.
I believe that sports plays a positive role in US society. I think it creates traits such as teamwork, friendships, hard work, self discipline and many other things. It brings people of all ethnicity together. I've come to this conclusion because as an athlete myself I can tell that I have developed some of these traits. Athletes are thought of as highly in society. I think they are looked to as role models among younger individuals. I think that they are respected but some people believe that athletes are spoiled and that they get paid way too much to play a game.
What other sports did you and your family play as you were growing up to make sports so important in your family? I agree that on some level athletes are paid a lot to entertain, but I also understand the sacrifices that are made. On the flip side, I also think the salary should be split across the board for men and female.
